document.getElementById("j1").innerHTML="Life is mesmerizing. One of the principles of biology is called emergent properties, which states that as more and more “entities” work on the same thing, they’ll eventually become a cohesive, complex unit. Cells to tissue. Tissues to organ. Organs to organ systems. And so on. The idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. After learning this for the first time in my freshman biology class, I started thinking about things in different ways. Sure, I’m Andrei Talaba. I like photography, guitar, fencing, and programming. I study science, and I’m an aspiring physician. But I’m more than that. And at the same time less than that. I am billions of cells trying to make sense of what will ensure their survival and cause the release of dopamine. I am life that, through research and experiments, manipulates life. I am Andrei, and I love Biology.";
