Great People

We would like to thank Gavin Kuziel for introducing us to iGEM and getting our team started, as well as Mr. Resch for supervising us every week and providing us a room and lab equipment to work with. We would also like to thank Mr. Pendleton and Mr. Sullivan for their help. We greatly enjoyed our first ventures into synthetic biology, and we gained a lot of insight into scientific research. Many of us hope to pursue careers in science and our experiences in iGEM will be extremely valuable as we strive to make a difference on people’s lives - science has great potential for solving the world’s problems and iGEM has allowed us to begin to realize this capacity.

Great Code

As Newton has once said, we see further when we stand upon the shoulders of giants. While the Montgomery iGEM team has never actually stood upon a giant, we have nonetheless saved a significant amount of time by building off the work of others, allowing us to focus on great site content rather than solving problems that have been solved before. Below is a list of snippets, plugins, and libraries used on this website.

  • [http://jquery.com jQuery], the go-to javascript library for the web.
  • [http://purecss.io/ Pure CSS], a great little CSS framework.
  • [http://unslider.com/ Unslider], a great little slider that just works.
  • [http://stephband.info/jquery.event.swipe/ jquery.event.swipe], which gives our gallery a little touch magic on tablets and phones.
  • ie9.js, because old versions Internet Explorer are not the most friendly to web developers.
  • [http://projects.jga.me/toc/ toc], for the cute little table of contents scoller on the right.
  • DTU-Denmark's iGEM Wiki HOWTO, for getting us started on this path.
  • [http://www.google.com/fonts Google Fonts], for font hosting. We used the lovely Open Sans font family for most of the site.

(Note: Fonts cannot be hosted on the iGEM wiki, so using external font hosting is a necessity. This site adapts itself gracefully should Google Font Hosting ever go down.)
