Today the Restriction Digest Procedure was performed. The RFP and alcohol aceyltransferase (banana odor) DNA tubes were accidentally left out overnight-which will probably affect the results of the procedure. They were supposed to get digested DNA that would cause bacterial growth on plates to either fluoresce red or produce banana odor. This step was to restrict the DNA from the cells that IGEM sent to the school, but it will not be known if leaving the tubes out instead of refrigerating them will give bad results.
