All members were required to take a lab safety class. To create a safe environment for ourselves,we went through basic safety and hazards of every lab. To ensure nothing was contaminated we sterilized our work station using Q-18 and a combination of bleach. Also using Lysol wipes on any surface in direct contact with lab materials. For personal safety we would use purel before and after taking off gloves. Goggles were mandated in lab areas to protect eye health. We also tested and confirmed that the eye wash station was completely functional before experiments were conducted. In addition we wore lab coats that covered us from collar to ankles. All hazardous materials were dealt with safely and with the environment in mind. Loose hair was tied into tight pony tails. Proper supervision was at hand at all times, either Mark trice or Dave Rozak were present for all experiments.
