The History of Waltham

Waltham is a city first settled in America in 1634 and became the forefront in America first industrial revolution as well as a contributor of the labor unions. In the early 19th century, Francis Cabot Lowell, also known as the Father of the American Revolution, created the Boston Manufacturing Company first here in Waltham. Here, he created the Waltham System which takes a raw material into one building and turns it into a completed product such as the textile mills that he has created. Waltham becomes the center and the start of the American Revolution and one of the most productive cities in America. Big companies such as the Waltham Watch company located in Waltham created millions of watches back then giving Waltham its name “The Watch City”. Now in present day, Waltham is still one of the chosen sites for science and engineering for companies with Raytheon, and many other massive companies located in the region. The city is now a center for research and higher education and home to one of the top research colleges Brandeis University. Waltham is quickly becoming more active in the science field and our group hopes that we could carry this ideal and achieve our goals.

Our school is a part of our team, helping and encouraging us to strive and achieve our goals. When we interviewed students and teachers at the high school about our project, this is what we heard:
