Renewable Energy

The renewable energy being produced by the fuel cell is the electricity. With the growing epidemic of energy scarcity, this production of a clean renewable source of energy with readily available use of nutrients is a unique answer to an age-old problem. The microbial fuel cell produces electricity by converting cellular energy released during metabolic reactions into electrical energy. This is due to bacteria growing on a negative electrode, as long as there is waste for the bacteria to consume electricity will continue to produce. An alternative fuel that is produce by microbial fuel cells is hydrogen in an anaerobic environment. The waste eating bacteria can also be in lakes to clean from organic pollutants benzene and toluene.
