Introduction
Located in the Bay Area, Summit Shasta is a revolutionary school that encourages student growth from mistakes, rather than having students memorize information they will not remember afterward. They encourage students to push themselves both academically and in extracurricular activities. This is the first year of the school's existence, with only a freshman student body. This student body was fortunate enough to have one of their parents be a professor of biology at UC Berkeley. He and his colleague Dr. Kapp of Skyline College were willing to sacrifice some of their time to educate willing students about synthetic biology. Hence, the Summit Shasta 2014 iGEM team was synthesized. Perhaps one day they will revolutionize the world.
