- | Waltham is a city first settled in America in 1634 and became the forefront in America first industrial revolution as well as a contributor of the labor unions. In the early 19th century, Francis Cabot Lowell, also known as the Father of the American Revolution, created the Boston Manufacturing Company first here in Waltham. Here, he created the Waltham System which takes a raw material into one building and turns it into a completed product such as the textile mills that he has created. Waltham becomes the center and the start of the American Revolution and one of the most productive cities in America. Big companies such as the Waltham Watch company located in Waltham created millions of watches back then giving Waltham its name “The Watch City”. Now in present day, Waltham is still one of the chosen sites for science and engineering for companies with Raytheon, and many other massive companies located in the region. The city is now a center for research and higher education and home to one of the top research colleges Brandeis University. Q: How do you feel this can impact the community with Waltham High School being apart of the new frontier of biology?
-Mr. Diluzio (History teacher) A: Amazing - competition drives ingenuity - innovative. Important for WHS to be on cutting edge of science.
-Mr. Leach (Math teacher) A: Awesome. Great thing for the school to take part in. Experience that's not repetitive in the classroom. Inquisitive student culture which benefits the school as a whole - Hear about fellow students creating something original.
-Student Colin Holmes A: Always trying to find new things to do. Expands new opportunities. Follow Dreams.
-Student Courtney Paschal A: Get students to think more - Full potential. Create better communication among students.
