Teams flying into the area should choose [http://www.massport.com/logan-airport/ Logan International Airport] (airport code: BOS) as their destination airport.

Public Transportation

Public transportation in Boston is the most economical way to travel around the city. There are multiple subway ("T") lines, and many, many bus routes that go through all the major parts of the city.

Fares and Passes

Each ride on the T is $2.50, and each bus ride is $2.00. If you will be taking the T or bus multiple times, consider getting a pass. Passes can be used by one person unlimited times on the T and bus systems. You can purchase a 1-day pass for $11 or 7-day pass for $18. Passes and fares can be purchased from automated machines at every T station. Bus fares can be paid in cash on the bus, but no change will be given. For more information about the public transportation system, visit the MBTA website at [http://mbta.com/index.asp www.mbta.com].

Directions from Logan Airport to Kendall Square (Marriott hotel, and MIT)

There is free Silver Line bus service from all terminals of Logan Airport to South Station subway station. Follow the signs for "Ground Transportation / Buses / Silver Line" to get to the Silver Line stops at Logan Airport. After you arrive at South Station, take the inbound Red Line subway to Kendall Square station. There are two exits from Kendall Square station. Exit the subway station from the main entrance/exit area, and the Marriott hotel is right behind the station exit. MIT campus is one block away (please see the map). For teams that are staying at the Marriott in Kendall Square, Cambridge, this is the fastest and most convenient route to get from the airport to the hotel.

Taxis are also readily available at Logan Airport. Follow the signs inside the airport for taxis. A taxi ride from the airport to the Marriott in Cambridge will cost approximately $25-35 dollars.

Driving / Parking

The Stata Center is located at 32 Vassar Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02142.

Metered street parking is available in the area. Meters are in effect Monday to Saturday from 8AM to 6PM. Some MIT parking lots are open and free to the public on the weekends:

  1. Building 44 and 46 lot - small parking lot
  2. Stata Building lot - small parking lot
  3. Hayward Street lot - large parking lot, access from Main Street

There are also paid parking lots in the area, at the Marriott hotel and also at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Vassar Street.
